I am not sure if this is even the right place to send an email or if will do any good, BUT I have to try and help my son somehow.

My son Vincent Piercefield left home from California to go to college in Mitchell, SD on a Baseball scholarship in 2011. I actually took him like the normal college right of passage for young adults.

Long story short he got in some trouble in in 2011 and some how wound up married with a child leaving in Pukwana. I know it has been a struggle for him and his family they moved to Rapid City for a minute but moved back. I know my son has been trying hard, but made some poor choices and had some tough luck.

Vince and his wife and child live with her mother in Pukwana but because of his mother in-laws drug use they have been kicked out of their home with only 3 days to move out.

I am trying to get Vince home but right now I am living check to check trying to get my own head above water and I have no way to help him. His wife had a job at the casino until last night her mother got her fired somehow. I know my son could make it work if he could catch a break and have a place to live even if it was for a mere 6 months to get on his feet and maybe come home with his family.

He says that they have reached out to the tribal council many times but that they have refused to help his wife and her husband and child.

I don't know anything about any of the rules out there and I don't even know if saying on the reservation is the term to use. I don't want to be offensive.

I know my son is very low income right now.
IS there any one any way to help him?
Can any one offer him a job?

The Four Winds Lodge in Brainerd offers inpatient services for Native American adults with chemical dependency and substance abuse disorders. Our program seeks to treat the mind, body, and spirit of the person as a whole. Under the guidance of a recognized Spiritual Leader, the program incorporates traditional teachings, ceremonies, and rituals to meet the unique cultural, spiritual, and social needs of each participant.

We have an opening for a full-time Alcohol & Drug Counselor to provide individual assessments, treatment planning, counseling, and case management for program participants. This position works Monday – Friday on the day-evening shift and is eligible for full benefits and insurance coverage. Ideal candidates will have personal experience and/or specialized training dealing with issues affecting the Native American community.

FourWinds Lodge is part of Community Addiction Recovery Enterprise (CARE), operated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. CARE is a community-based program offering both inpatient and outpatient specialty treatment services for adults and adolescents with substance abuse disorders. All services are person-centered, leading to a lifelong process of recovery by building on the individual’s interests and capacity for growth. The facility also offers family programming, relapse prevention, and continued care services.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be either:
- Licensed as an Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LADC) by the State of MN
OR
- Certified as an Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC I, II, or III) by the Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders (UMICAD).

My brother is seven months older than I am and is dark skinned Cherokee. I am white barked. (Caucasian) I had white hair. Billy sometimes did not claim me as his sister.
